ITEM # 20

Item # 20 is a proposed Act authorizing the County to enter into a Consent Order with the State of New York, acting by and through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, in connection with municipal landfill post-closure projects at the Croton Point Railroad One Landfill.

Bob Matarrazo, DEF, briefed the Members on this proposal.  He stated that this was a capital project submitted a number of years ago.  Two million dollars in State grants became available as a result of an application submitted by the County.  A Consent Order needs be executed so that the County may utilize State assistance to satisfy its obligations under the State regulations.

Legislator Pinto mentioned that this Item was discussed in the Committees on Budget & Appropriations and Environment & Health.  This item was signed out by the Committee on Environment & Health on July 8, 2002.

Legislator Oros made a motion to sign out Item #17 for consideration of the full Board and was seconded by Legislator Pinto.  The vote was 3-0.

ITEM # 1

Legislator Latimer expressed his desire for the Committee to schedule a meeting with Commissioner Landi, DEF, for an update on the water quality of Mamaroneck Harbor, specifically Johnson Beach (which has been closed for 2 years due to a high level of bacteria).
