D R A F T M I N U T E S COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 1997 2 P.M.
PRESENT: Co-Chairs: Swanson, Wishnie. Members: Darcy, Carsky, Latimer. Staff: Robert Abbamont-DPW; Emilia Vita, Secretary.
The meeting was called to order at 2:10 p.m. by Legislators Swanson and Wishnie.
The minutes of January 13th were approved and moved on the motion of Legislator Swanson, seconded by Legislator Wishnie.
Mrs. Swanson submitted a copy of a letter from Legislator Stewart-Cousins with concerns from her community regarding the Yonkers Joint Treatment plant; they will be forwarded to Commissioner Trelewicz to be discussed at the February 3rd meeting.
The following agenda items need to be forwarded to the Administration for the necessary legislation for formal processing:
Item C: Mt. Pleasant, Crossings Drainage Districts. Legislator Swanson explained that this is needed In order to update the present sewer lines in the Town. Forward to the County Executive for proper legislation on the motion of Legislator Darcy, seconded by Legislator Carsky.
Item B: Town of Cortlandts petition requesting the extension and modification of County Sewer District. Legislation Wishnie explained that this is to alleviate those taxpayers who pay sewer taxes with no sewers. Forwarded to the County Executive for proper legislation on the motion of Legislator Darcy, seconded by Legislator Carsky.
Town of New Castles petition to facilitate and update the existing lines in the Birch Drive Water District. Forwarded to the County Executive for proper legislation on the motion of Legislator Wishnie, seconded by Legislator Carsky. [This agenda item was previously received and filed pending this motion]
Item A: Town of Greenburgh Supervisor Feiners letter to Al Bauman, NYSDOT regarding work being done on the Saw Mill River Parkway in the vicinity of Hastings and Yonkers. This is works being done by NYSDOT, not County. Item to be received and filed on the motion of Legislator Darcy, seconded by Legislator Carsky.
All votes taken today were [5-0]
The next scheduled meeting will be Monday, February 3rd, at 2 p.m. Commissioner Trelewicz will discuss the Yonkers Plant, capping and update on the I and I. Members from the Municipal Officials Association will be invited to listen. Legislator Wishnie would like to discuss the issue of the Hawthorne Hole, as he is in receipt of a constituent letter regarding cost savings methods for manpower at the facility recommending that the system can work by automation. This will be discussed at a future meeting.
Legislator Latimer asked to have the SSES file removed from the agenda as all issues pertaining to this matter were passed via Resolution. All in favor, none opposed, the file is removed from the agenda on the motion of Legislator Latimer, seconded by Legislator Swanson,
With no other business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 2:45 p.m. on the motion of Legislator Wishnie, seconded by Legislator Carsky.
