COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS

JUNE 26, 1996

The meeting was called to order at 2:35 PM by Mr. Wishnie.

SPECIAL AGENDA ITEM: HON. GEORGE OROS: Petition from the Northern

Westchester Joint Water Works Committee to transfer the Amawalk Filtration Plant from County Water District #2. (6.18.96)

Mr. Wishnie said a letter was received from the Northern Westchester Joint Water Works Counsel Thomas F. Wood explaining that the Towns of Yorktown, Cortlandt and the Montrose Improvement District have indicated their desire to be involved in this transfer and have spoken to representatives of the County. A petition was attached to the letter signed by the Chairperson of the Northern Westchester Joint Water Works, Michael J. McCallion, the Vice Chairperson, Linda D. Puglisi and the Treasurer, Linda G. Cooper.

Mr. Wishnie said it would be appropriate at this time to receive the petition and forward it to the County Executive for preparation of the appropriate Board Acts and approval of departments.

A motion was made by Mrs. Swanson to receive and forward the petition to the County Executive, seconded by Mr. Wishnie. (Carried by a vote of 2-0. Delfino out for the vote.)

Mr. Wishnie said the committee received some language from the County Attorney through the County Executive’s office regarding the Committee’s request to have some new language appear in the PreQual and Selection Legislation Proposal regarding Annual Reporting requirements. This information will be circulated to the members of the committee to be discussed at our next meeting.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3 pm on motion of Mrs. Swanson and seconded by Mr. Wishnie.
