D R A F T COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS MONDAY, MARCH 18, 1996 2 P.M.
PRESENT: Co-Chair: Swanson, Wishnie. Members: Carsky, Delfino, Darcy, Latimer. Staff: John Egner-DPW; Emilia Vita, Secretary.
Co-Chairman Wishnie called the meeting to order at 2 p.m.
MINUTES: February 26th were moved and approved on the motion of Legislator Darcy, seconded by Legislator Wishnie; March 4th were moved and approved on the motion of Legislator Carsky, seconded by Legislator Swanson; March 11th, joint with Budget to discuss Bonds, were moved and approved on the motion of Legislator Darcy, seconded by Legislator Delfino. All motions carried 5-0.
SPECIAL AGENDA ITEM: Letter from the Village of Elmsford regarding the collection cost of recyclables and toll expenses to and from the MRF in Yonkers. Commissioner Trelewicz said at the last meeting he would look into this request, and respond to this Committee. It is agreed by the membership to forward this letter to Jim Hogan for comments and response, with a copy to the Municipal Officials Association.
ITEM A: Town of Somers petition for extension of County Water District No. 2, will be forwarded to the Administration to take the necessary procedures to prepare the necessary legislation for Board approval.
ITEM C: DEF AND DPW MERGER: A joint meeting with Budget & Appropriations will be scheduled for Monday, March 11th at 2 p.m. all members are urged to attend.
ITEM D: Scarsdales proposal for transferring leaves to White Plains or Yonkers Station; the item is pending a response from Jim Hogan with a copy of a report regarding leaf composting.
ITEM E: Proposed legislation to transfer the Jenny Clarkson Home and adjacent properties to the Mamaroneck Sewer District. The membership agreed to call a public hearing at the March 25th Board meeting; motion by Legislator Delfino, seconded by Legislator Carsky [6-0].
INFLOW & INFILTRATION: The members discussed the concerns of the cost and responsibility of the County and local municipalities. It was suggested the locals voice their concerns to the County Executive; Legislator Darcy and Wishnie will keep updated with the Municipal Officials Association.
The members discussed a field trip to the MRF, Mr. Wishnie asked to inquire when the dedication to Danny Thomas was scheduled (April 24th) and the committee will make necessary arrangement for a private tour.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 2:50 p.m. |
