This special meeting is held at the request of Chairman Oros, with the likelihood the Town of Croplands petition (Agenda Item F), previously submitted in April 1995, will be resolved.
Mr. James Irish, Town Engineer for the Town of Cortlandt presented several maps showing the areas involved within the district.
Dr. Rapoport explained the concerns of the Health Department and what the County can do with the information provided, the Department of Environmental Facilities is satisfied with all information provided. Mr. DAquino notes the three areas of concern, a second look was needed to look for the feasibility to keep some districts in and the necessity to take some out. Several areas are subdivisions of dry sewers. In the original proposal, they were to be removed, they now stay. Other lots are old compared to smaller lots. Southern areas would pump and better serve the district. The department also looked into the most cost effective alternate rather than expensive wise for the sake of the town. The main concern of the Health department was the old areas, it was address and all concerns have been addressed to the satisfaction of the Health Department.
Mr. Irish was pleased with the outcome, asking the what steps are needed to pursue the extension of the districts. Mr. Oros said the requests have been satisfied by both the Departments of Environmental Facilities and Health with all concerns met. He then called for a motion to prepare a Resolution to create necessary legislation extending the district. Motion moved by Legislator Latimer, seconded by Legislator Wishnie [4-0]. The Resolution will be submitted the Boards agenda by the February 26th meeting.
Legislator Wishnie thanked Dr. Rapoport for his earlier presentation of the aqueduct situation with the serious nature and how his staff immediately pulled forces together and acted quickly in such circumstances. Dr. Rapoport and staff appreciated the compliments.
