COMMITTEE ON PARKS & RECREATION

MINUTES:  MARCH 25, 2002

Chairman Mosiello called the meeting to order at 1:05.

 

Mr. Mosiello asked to have the minutes of March 4,2002 reviewed. On motion of  Mr. Alvarado, seconded by Mrs. Spreckman, the minutes were approved and accepted.

 

Mr. Mosiello presented proposed “Committee Blueprints”.   Mr. Mosiello suggested their adoption as presented.  On motion of Mr. Alvarado seconded by Mr. Pinto blueprints were approved and  accepted

 

Referral from Lois Bronz:   Regarding the Millenium Pipeline. Mr. Mosiello spoke to Mr. Abinanti, as it relates to Greenburgh.  There were some concerns about the possibility of the Millenium Pipeline being done on the So. County trailway.  The committee will discuss the possibility of asking the state to dedicate the trailway as parkland.  This matter will be considered in more detail at a future meeting.

 

Re-establishment of Playland Commission:  A brief discussion was held with regard to this issue.  The committee will invite Mr. Latimer and those concerned and have them come to one of our meetings.

 

Mr. Mosiello discussed the possibility of appointing a citizens advisory committee to look into the viability of the ice rink.  He asked the committee members to consider recommendations.

 

Mr. Alvarado reported that he was presently in discussions with representatives of the Parks Department about the lack of playable ballfields in Yonkers.  Mr. Mosiello asked him to report the results of his efforts to the committee.

 

On motion, Mr. Alvarado, seconded by Mr. Pinto, meeting was adjourned at 1:37 PM
