COMMITTEE ON COUNTY OFFICERS AND DEPARTMENTS

MINUTES, JANUARY 13, 2003

Legislator Swanson called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.

 

On motion by Mr. Pinto, seconded by Mrs. Spreckman, minutes of November 18, 2002 and December 5, 2002 were approved.  Vote 6-0

 

SENIOR PROGRAMS & SERVICES SENIOR COUNCIL

 

James Cronk has been a member of the Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years and for the last 11 years served as President of the Verplanck Fire Benevolent.  Mr. Cronk has served on Legislator Spreckman’s Senior Committee for 6 years. 

 

Daniel Sambol is the former Director of Social Services of the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies and the former Director of Social Services at the Andrus Home in Yonkers.  Mr. Sambol is the Chairperson of the Senior Advisory Council of the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services.

 

Eileen Madison is the President of RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) and is a member of Legislator Spreckman’s Commission on Senior Citizens.  She is a retired school teacher and is still very active in ARC and the White Plains Day Services Committee.

 

Mrs. LaMotte would like to know a little more about this committee.  Bill Randolph stated it is a brand new committee and its function is to look at areas of major concerns and programs.  The COD Committee would like a synopsis of all new programs sent down from the executive’s office, how they are doing, and what their mission is.  Mr. Pinto suggested a copy of the minutes be sent to the committee by the chair to Chair Bronz. 

 

On motion by Mr. Pinto seconded by Mrs. Spreckman, James Cronk, Daniel Sambol and Mrs. Madison are appointed to Senior Program.  Vote 6-0.

 

On motion by Mr. Pinto seconded by Mrs. Spreckman Minutes for November 18, 2002 and December 5, 2002 were approved.  Vote 6-0.

 

DESIGNATION OF DEPUTIES

 

Mrs. Swanson asked for a motion to Receive and File.  On motion of Mr. Pinto, seconded by Mrs. Spreckman motion carried.  Vote 6-0.

 

Mr. Joe Stout came in for interview for appointment of Commissioner of Parks.  Mr. Pinto, Mrs. Spreckman, Mrs. LaMotte, Mrs. Bronz, Mrs. Swanson and Mr. Ryan spoke very highly of Mr. Stout.
