MINUTES

COMMITTEE ON COUNTYOFFICERS AND DEPARTMENTS

JANUARY 28, 2002

 

PRESENT:  CHAIR SWANSON, LEGS. PINTO, RYAN YOUNG

 

ALSO PRESENT:  DR. HAROLD ADEL, MRS. KEATING, MRS. SCHECTER.

 

ITEMS DISCUSSED:

 

          Chair Swanson called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.  On motion of Mr. Ryan, seconded by Mr. Young, the quorum was set at three.  On motion of Mr. Pinto, seconded by Mr. Young, items signed out of committee will also require three signatures.

 

          Dr. Adel was being recommended to serve on the Board of Health.  Since his retirement, Dr. Adel has been a member of the New York State Colleges Board and assists them on important health care issues.

 

          Mr. Young stated that he was pleased that Dr. Adel has come forward to serve us again. 

 

          Mr. Ryan was pleased to hear that Dr. Adel was willing to come back and serve WestchesterCounty.

 

          Mr. Pinto stated that he would like the record to reflect that Dr. Adel’s term expires in 2008. 

 

          Mr. Ryan asked to what extent the Board of Health members get involved in bio-terrorism situations. 

 

          Mrs. Swanson explained that the Department of Health works with the Board of Health.  Dr. Adel stated that the Board of Health is a sounding board for the department.

 

          On motion of Mr. Young, seconded by Mr. Ryan, Dr. Adel was approved 4-0.

 

          On motion of Mr. Young, seconded by Mr. Pinto items C & D – (Designation of Deputies for Senior Programs and Environmental Facilities were received and filed 4-0.

 

          On motion of Mrs. Swanson, seconded by Mr. Pinto, the committee unanimously and enthusiastically moved that Mr. Young be Vice-Chair of the committee.

 

          On motion of Mr. Young, seconded by Mr. Pinto, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
