COMMITTEE ON COUNTYOFFICERS 7 DEPARTMENTS

MONDAY, MAY 7, 2001

4:00 P.M.

 

 

PRESENT:  Chair:  LaMotte.  Members:  Pinto, Stewart-Cousins, Swanson, Spreckman, Oros and Young.  Staff:  Schecter.

 

ALSO PRESENT:  Bill Randolph, CE Liaison

 

Mrs. LaMotte called the meeting to order at 4:11 p.m.

 

WOMEN’S ADVISORY BOARD APPOINTMENT:

Sumi Mitsudo, M.D.: is a resident of Dobbs Ferry and was appointed to the Women’s Advisory Board in 2000 for a term to expire December 31, 2001.  She has retired from her position in the Department of Pathology at MontefioreHospital in the Bronx.  She has been participating in meetings for one year.  As part of the Women’s Advisory Board, they have sent out a questionnaire to women’s organizations, departments and non-profit organizations trying to find out what is critical to women –“ a needs assessment.”

 

As a pathologist, she performed diagnosis on tissues including specimens from the operating room during surgery as well as bodies in the morgue.  15 to 20% of the bodies have autopsies, which yield information as to why someone died.  She has signed the book.  Legislator Oros commented that she has been involved in numerous civic activities.  She is currently president of the regional division of the Japanese American Organization.

 

On the motion of Legislator Swanson, seconded by Legislator Pinto, the appointment is approved by a 6-0 vote.

 

FIRE ADVISORY BOARD APPOINTMENT:

Robert A. Boddie, Sr.:  is a resident of Peekskill and has just stepped down as Chief of the Peekskill Volunteer Fire Department after nine years as Chief..  He has been appointed to the Fire Advisory Board for the term January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001.  The Peekskill Department is a mixed department of volunteer and paid firemen.  They are very involved in fire safety, much respected, with a fire boat and also a rope and rescue team.

The department is 175 years old.  There are 26 career men and 225 volunteers.  Mr. Boddie is also on the Cortlandt Fire Advisory Board.  He has attended quite a few meetings of the County’s Fire Advisory Board.

 

On the motion of Legislator Oros, seconded by Legislator Swanson, the appointment is approved by a 6-0 vote.

 

Hispanic Advisory Board REAPPOINTMENTS:

1.      Piero Olcese is a resident of Scarsdale and has been reappointed to the Hispanic Advisory Board for the term January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002.

 

2.      Anita Delgado is a resident of White Plains and has been reappointed to the Hispanic Advisory Board for the term January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002.

 

3.      Carlos Bernard is a resident of Hartsdale and has been reappointed to the Hispanic Advisory Board for the term January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002.

 

4.      Rochelle Rospigliosi is a resident of White Plains and has been reappointed to the Hispanic Advisory Board for the term January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002.

 

5.      Robin A. Bikkal, Esq. is a resident of White Plains and has been reappointed to the Hispanic Advisory Board for the term January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002.

 

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Swanson the appointments were approved by a 6-0 vote.

 

Agenda Item A-49:  Mr. Ruggerio’s appointment to the Fire Advisory Board.  He has since resigned.  The item is received and filed on the motion of Legislator Pinto and seconded by Legislator Oros, by a 6-0 vote.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 5 p.m. by motion of Legislator Swanson and seconded by Legislator Oros.  This was approved by a 6-0 vote.
