The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m.

Dr. Packer has volunteered to serve on the Board of Health and was recommended for appointment by Chairman George Latimer. He will be replacing Dr. Alexander Blum, Jr. with a term to expire December 31, 2000. Dr. Packer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Jacobi Hospital. Until 1997, he had a private practice in New Rochelle. Dr. Packer has a flexible schedule that will allow him to attend the meetings of the Board of Health. Dr. Packer has no objection with filling out the necessary financial disclosure form.

Legislator Maisano spoke on behalf of Dr. Paul Packer. He has known Dr. Packer and his family for many years.

Chair Swanson briefly explained and distributed an outline of the function/duties on the Board of Health to Dr. Packer. The Board of Health meets one Thursday each month. They deal with issues such as inspections, sanitary codes and violations.

Legislator Spreckman made a motion to approve the resolution appointing Dr. Paul Packer as a member of the Board of Health and was seconded by Legislator Stewart-Cousins. The vote was carried by a vote of 5-0.

Legislator Stewart-Cousins made a motion to approve the minutes of May 10, 1999 and was seconded by Legislator Spreckman. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0. (Oros was out for the vote).

Legislator Young made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:20 p.m. and was seconded by Legislator Spreckman. The motion was carried by a vote of 5-0.
