COMMITTEE ON COUNTY OFFICERS AND DEPARTMENTS MINUTES FEBRUARY 16, 1999 4:00PM

The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. MINUTES: Legislator Pinto made a motion to approve the minutes of February 1, 1999, and was seconded by Legislator Oros. The motion was carried by a vote of 3-0. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COUNCIL: Carmen Scaglione was a Spanish interpreter in the court system for several years. Ms. Scaglione took a position in the Domestic Violence Aide program when it began in 1978, and has been there ever since. Jeanine Pirro headed the program which grew from a three (3) person unit into a twenty-five (25) person division. Ms. Scaglione has also been part of the Womens Justice Council and the Westchester County Coalition on Domestic Violence. She has worked closely with victims and professionals in this field. Legislator Ryan stated that Ms. Scaglione is an excellent candidate for the Domestic Violence Council. She has served as liaison between the Domestic Violence Bureau and related agencies such as the Department of Social Services and Child Protective Services, etc. She is a long time active member of the community and highly respected for her endeavors. Legislator Ryan supports Ms. Scaglione and urged the Committee to approve her appointment. COMMITTEE ON COUNTY OFFICERS AND DEPARTMENTS MINUTES FEBRUARY 16, 1999 PAGE 2 Legislator Oros made a motion to approve the resolution confirming the appointment of Carmen Scaglione as a member of the Domestic Violence Council and was seconded by Legislator Pinto. The motion was carried by a vote of 3-0. Stanley Brownstein Board of Health: Chair Swanson made a motion to approve the resolution confirming the reappointment of Stanley Brownstein as a member of the Board of Health and was seconded by Legislator Pinto. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0. Legislator Oros was out for the vote. Legislator Oros made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 4:20 and was seconded by Legislator Pinto. The motion was carried by a vote of 3-0.
