COMMITTEE ON COUNTY OFFICERS AND DEPARTMENTS MINUTES SEPTEMBER 29, 1998
MEMBERS: SWANSON, YOUNG, PINTO, SPRECKMAN, OROS LEGISLATORS: WISHNIE MEMBERS: SCHECTER, MORO (BOL) GUESTS: ELIZABETH MARK, IVORY GREEN, JR. (YOUTH BOARD), SCOTT TRIVELLA (POLICE BOARD) There is a tape on file for more detailed information. The meeting was called to order at 4:08 p.m. Youth Board: Elizabeth Mark has been attending meetings. She has also served on this Board in the past. Ms. Mark is a Board member of the Westchester Childrens Association Research and Advocacy Committee in addition to being a member of Campaign for kids steering Committee since its inception. Ms. Mark is very involved with the homeless runaway youth shelter, and is Chair of the Westchester County Council for the Disabled. Ms. Mark believes the needs are growing and is dismayed at the time frame in which it takes to get things done. Legislator Spreckman motioned to approve the Resolution confirming the appointment of Elizabeth Mark as a member of the Youth Board and was seconded by Legislator Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 5-0. Police Advisory Board: Scott Trivella has attended three meetings, he explained the basic format of the meetings. He stated that Lou DAliso presides over the meeting. Commissioner DAliso gets reports from the superior officers, in their areas, then they discuss the problem areas. They go over statistics on DWIs, etc., and the type of services they provide to COMMITTEE ON COUNTY OFFICERS AND DEPARTMENTS MINUTES SEPTEMBER 28, 1998 PAGE 2 other communities. The next Police Board meeting is on October 27, 1998. Mr. Trivella is replacing Mr. DeSanto, and his term expires on December 31, 2000. Chair Swanson motioned to approve the Resolution confirming the appointment of Scott Trivella as a member of the Police Advisory Board. The motion was carried by a vote of 5-0. Youth Board: Ivory Green, Jr. is a Greenburgh resident with a White Plains address. Mr. Green has attended two meetings. He intends to go with some senior members to some of the projects being funded, to see what is going on. The Committee reviewed Mr. Greens background and experience. He is retired but does consulting work in the area of affirmative action, he is called upon quite often in that capacity. Mr. Green stated that he commends the Board for having five youth members on the Board, he feels it is important to have their input. Legislator Oros motioned to approve the Resolution confirming the appointment of Ivory Green, Jr. as a member of the Youth Board and was seconded by Legislator Pinto. The motion was carried by a vote of 5-0. Legislator Oros stated that he would like to see the individuals confirmed, before they are sworn in. In many cases they are sworn in before they come before the Board of Legislators. Legislator Young motioned to approve the Minutes of September 23, 1998 and was seconded by Legislator Swanson. The motion was carried by a vote of 5-0. Legislator Young motioned to adjourn the meeting at 4:45 P.M. and was seconded by Legislator Pinto. The motion was carried by a vote of 5-0. |
