The meeting was called to order at 4:08 p.m.

Police Advisory Board:

Glenn Carlson lives in Valhalla and is a Youth Officer in the Town of Mt. Pleasant. There are five (5) members on the Police Advisory Board. The County Executive appoints three (3) and two (2) are appointed by the Board of Legislators (BOL). Mr. Carlson is a BOL appointment. Mr. Carlson would make objective examinations of the facts prior to forming any conclusion and making any recommendations in any of the complaints he deals with. He feels it is an asset that he is a Police Officer. Legislator Young commended Mr. Carlson on his impressive resume. Legislator Oros stated that Mr. Carlson’s work as a liaison to Family Court and Social Service Agencies, and his work in the Youth Bureau will be very helpful, and give him a good perspective. Chair Swanson stated that Mr. Carlson will be very competent in this position.

Chair Swanson motioned to approve the Resolution confirming the appointment of Glenn Carlson as a member of the Police Advisory Board and was seconded by Legislator Oros. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0.

Social Service:

Chair Swanson motioned to approve the Resolution confirming the appointment of Kevin Mahon as Commissioner of Social Services and was seconded by Legislator Oros. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0. Legislator Young and Oros signed it without prejudice.

Westchester Community College:

Legislator Young stated that Ms. Somersille is a very good trustee. He attended a number of meetings that she was a part of and she was very involved.

Legislator Young motioned to approve the Resolution confirming the reappointment of Valerie Somersille as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Westchester Community College and was seconded by Legislator Oros. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0.

Designation of Deputies:

Legislator Oros motioned to receive and file the Designation of Deputies for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation and was seconded by Legislator Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0.

Legislator Young motioned to receive and file the Designation of Deputies for the Department of Social Services and was seconded by Legislator Oros. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0.

Legislator Young motioned to approve the minutes of July 27, 1998 and was seconded by Legislator Oros. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0.

Legislator Oros motioned to adjourn the meeting at 4:22 p.m. and was seconded by Legislator Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 4-0.
