The meeting was called to order at 1:09 pm.
MINUTES: Legislator Bronz made a motion to approve the minutes of July 13, 1999 and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.
CON ED RESOLUTIONS Chair Young stated that the closing of Con Ed customer service payment centers and their negligent actions to certain communities during recent blackouts continues to highlight Con Eds lack of regard for the welfare of its customers. Due to these actions, Robert Hoch and Chair Young prepared a resolution. The resolution requests that the New York State Public Service Commission has Con Ed immediately reopen its three customer service centers in the Westchester cities of Mt. Vernon, Peekskill and Yonkers.
Mr. Hoch read the resolution. He stated that a separate resolution has been prepared regarding the recent power outages at the request of Legislator Pinto.
Legislator Pinto believes Con Ed should be required to maintain the bill paying facilities. He also stated that Con Ed should show good faith to the affected consumers regarding the recent power outages by offering an automatic reduction of $25 to $50. would compensate for any losses that may have been a result of the loss of electrical service between July 6 and July 9, 1999.
Legislator Bronz stated that she supports the resolution. She also feels it is important to keep these service centers open for the senior citizens of Westchester.
Legislator Bronz made a motion to approve the resolution and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.
Legislator Pinto introduced the second resolution regarding the recent power outages. He requested Chair Young sign it out of this Committee today to be put on tonights Board agenda for vote. Chair Young and Legislator Bronz agreed.
Legislator Bronz made a motion to amend todays Committee agenda to include the second resolution introduced by Legislator Pinto and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.

RECEIVE & FILE Legislator Bronz made a motion to receive and file Item #1(Request that the Committee on Minority Affairs study the circumstances by which the County provides services, in all forms, to the Countys Spanish speaking residents) and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.
Legislator Bronz made a motion to adjourn at 1:25 pm and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0. |
