COMMITTEE ON MINORITY AFFAIRS MINUTES MAY 25, 1999 2:00 PM

The meeting was called to order at 2:11 p.m.
Legislator Bronz made a motion to approve the minutes of March 30, 1999 and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.
Chair Young apologized for not holding a joint meeting of the Committee on Minority Affairs with the Committee on County Officers and Departments on May 3rd as they interviewed members for the African-American Advisory Board. He stated that he did Chair the meeting and also conducted the interviews. Legislator Bronz also attended.
The Committee on Minority Affairs requested a meeting of the Committee of the Whole to discuss the closing of several Con Ed customer service centers. Legislator Young chaired the May 3rd meeting and it was held in the Board of Legislators Chambers. Individuals representing the Utilities Workers Union 1-2 were in attendance and spoke of their concerns.
Legislator Bronz stated that she has received all of the pamphlets of County services printed in Spanish as requested by the Hispanic Advisory Board. She has established a corner in her office as a reference section for these pamphlets.

Legislator Bronz informed the Committee she would be chairing the meeting of the Sub-Committee on Affordable Housing on June 16th at 4:15 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a brainstorming session on affordable housing in Westchester County.
Legislator Bronz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 2:17 p.m. and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0. |
