COMMITTEE ON MINORITY AFFAIRS MINUTES JANUARY 26, 1999 1:00

The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m.
Legislator Bronz made a motion to approve the minutes of November 17, 1999, and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.
On February 9, 1999 Bob Lenseth of the American Red Cross will come before this committee to alert the members of the problems and concerns in finding temporary housing for minority families in crisis situations.
On February 18, 1999 there will be a joint meeting of COD and Minority Affairs with the Hispanic Advisory Board.
The Budget Committees subcommittee on courthouse renovations will be meeting with the Dormitory Authority and will see that they are including minorities and women owned businesses.
The Minority Affairs courthouse rehabilitation minority and women owned business opportunities subcommittee will have a meeting on March 2, 1999 and will invite the people helping them to include minorities and women owned businesses, to the meeting. They will be working with the Budget Committee on this.
In the middle of March Minority Affairs will have Commissioner Pozi come before the Committee to provide statistics and demographics of who occupies the cells.

Minority Affairs will also be having a joint meeting with Community Affairs subcommittee on affordable housing. Legislator Bronz will inform us of the time when it is set.
A letter, requesting that the Health Committee schedule a time for Minority Affairs to meet with them jointly at the Greenburgh neighborhood health center for a tour and discussion on minority health issues, will be sent out shortly.
Legislator Bronz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:30 and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0. |
