The meeting was called to order at 1:20 p.m.

Legislator Bronz motioned to approve the minutes of August 10, 1998 and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.

Sub Committee on Courthouse Renovation:

Mr. Chang stated that the background materials are needed, and that they have requested the RFP from the Dormitory Authority. They have been told that they may receive it by the end of the day. After they receive it they will review it and determine how they are selected. Chair Young met with Bill Randolph and Larry Schwartz and he was assured there will be full participation. Chair Young assured them that they will be monitored closely as to what that full participation means.

CRA:

After Labor Day the reports should be in.

Sub Committee on Affordable Housing:

Legislator Bronz has only received one response from the Legislators with names for the sub committee. She does have some names from citizens, but would like more from the Legislators. Chair Young explained that in the Budget Committee meeting they were discussing an affordable housing situation in Peekskill. Peekskill has a large African-American population. There is housing being made

available for artists. Chair Young stated that he is not sure how many minorities would qualify for that type of housing. Legislator Bronz stated that they could do a letter to the City inquiring as to the extent of the involvement of minorities. Also, the Community Affairs and Housing Committee is arranging with Planning to have a tour of sights, they can ask to put this one on the list.

Minority Health:

Legislator Abinanti asked Chair Young to inform the Committee that he will schedule a meeting in September in his district to discuss minority health.

Minutes:

The committee took into consideration Mr. Quiros’s concerns and amended the language of the July 21, 1998 Minutes. On motion of Legislator Bronz, seconded by Chair Young the amended Minutes of July 21, 1998 were approved by a vote of 2-0.

Legislator Bronz motioned to adjourn the meeting at 1:45 p.m. and was seconded by Chair Young. The motion was carried by a vote of 2-0.
