COMMITTEE ON MINORITY AFFAIRS

MAY 27, 1997

PRESENT: Chairman, Clinton I. Young, Jr. Member, Lois Bronz

Secretary, Lynne Creighton

The meeting was called to order at 12:02 PM.

Legislator Young said that the County Attorney will meet with the

committee within the next two weeks to give an update on the

proposed legislation for economic development.

The committee should have a draft to review by Mid July and after

it has been approved it will be voted on by the end of August or the

beginning of September.

The committee will meet with representatives from Texaco on

June 10 at 12 Noon and other organizations interested in this issue

will be invited as well.

Mr. Young asked Lynne to ask Dan Rodriguez to extend an

invitation to the Hispanic organizations he felt should attend.

Mr. Young also asked Lynne to draft a letter to Jamie Hastings

requesting that Ed Dowdy from Affirmative Action attend the

meeting.

Mr. Young and Mrs. Bronz gave Lynne a list of organizations to

invite and asked her to draft a letter.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:30pm on motion of Mr. Young,

seconded by Mrs. Bronz.
