COMMITTEE ON MINORITY AFFAIRS

NOVEMBER 18, 1997

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 Noon by Mr. Young.

The minutes of October 28 were approved by motion of Mr. Darcy and seconded by Mr. Young, passed by a vote of 2-0.

Mrs. Gorski and Mr. Young discussed the Local Law adding Chapter 308 to the Laws of Westchester County regarding Minority and Women-Owned Business enterprises, signed out by both the Committee and the Committee on Legislation for a Public Hearing.

Mr .Young received a package of material submitted by the African American Chamber of Commerce, which he would like each member to review, with reference to a request for funding in the 1998 budget. He further stated that the AACC wants to promote business opportunities throughout the county, and that he had reviewed the material, which looked very good. Mr. Young said that he will make a recommendation seeking funding during the budget process.

Mr. Darcy made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:20pm, which was seconded by Mr. Young and passed by a vote of 2-0.
