MINUTES

COMMITTEE ON MINORITY AFFAIRS

JANUARY 14, 1997

12 NOON

PRESENT: Chairman Clinton I. Young, Jr. Members: Bob Darcy, Lois Bronz

Staff: Lynne Creighton, Don Sandford

The meeting was called to order at 12:02pm by Mr. Young.

Mr. Young read a letter addressed to County Attorney Marilyn Slaatten regarding

a Resolution unanimously approved by the Board of Legislators requiring record

keeping on minority and women-owned business activity with the County.

The Committee on Minority Affairs is requesting to be informed as to the

status of progress.

Mr. Darcy expressed his concern that there should be something in writing stating

that the County should in fact be keeping records on minority and women-owned

business activity, and thought that there was already a written policy.

Mr. Young responded that Executive Order #8 was strictly an Administrative policy

but that the legislation passed by the Board of Legislators will make it mandatory

County policy.

Mr. Young made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:10pm, until after the

Chairman’s Lunch, and to give Mrs. Bronz a chance to vote, since she was not present

at the first half of the meeting.

The meeting reconvened at 2:13pm, with Mr. Darcy making a motion to send the

letter to County Attorney Marilyn Slaatten, seconded by Lois Bronz, approved by a

vote of 3-0.

The meeting adjourned at 2:15pm on motion of Mrs. Bronz, seconded by Mr. Darcy,

approved by a vote of 3-0.
