The meeting commenced at 2:00 PM. The first item for discussion was the State Legislative Package. Leg. Stewart-Cousins discussed the possible time frame for voting the item out of Committee as well as visiting the State Delegation. Leg. Stewart-Cousins noted that an appointment is tentatively scheduled for February 2nd or February 9th . Next Leg. Stewart-Cousins invited Karen Pasquale to discuss each item in the package.

The items discussed were:

  1. Westchester County Sales Tax Extender;
  2. Services for Children with Disabilities (SCD);
  3. Authority to regulate for-hire vehicles;
  4. Amendments to FOIL;
  5. Extension of IDA authority to finance non-profit facilities;
  6. Auto-User Tax Increase (note this item was not included in the package);
  7. Removal of Yonkers Toll Plaza;
  8. Funding for Partnership for Educational Development;
  9. Playland Improvements;
  10.

  11. Increase Reimbursement for State-Ready Prisoners;
  12. Sales Tax Loss on Clothing;
  13. American Heritage River Designation of the Hudson River;
  14. Support for Westchester County Clean Vessel Grant Application;
  15. To Allow Westchester County to be one of 18 EMS Regions in the State of New York;

Next Leg. Stewart-Cousins discussed the Legislature’s requests, and asked all Committee members to review the list of proposed items and address any problems or concerns. After some discussion, Leg. Abinanti moved to adjourn, seconded by Leg. Ryan. The meeting ended at 4:20 PM.
