The meeting started at 1:45 PM. Leg. Stewart-Cousins opened the floor for discussion of the updated/revised Federal Package. Due to the time constraints posed by the upcoming Congressional legislative session, the Committee discussed and agreed to forward a letter outlining budgetary concerns, which should be acted upon now. These items included discussion on the following:

    • Commissioner Friedman discussed Funding for Shelter Plus Care Program.
    • Norma Drummond discussed Funding for Lead-Based Paint Removal and the Section 8 Rental Housing Assistance & SRO Rehabilitation.
    • Norman Jacknis discussed Internet Taxes.

    • Claude Jones discussed the Summer Youth Employment & Training Program.
    • Patty Chemka discussed Funding for Improvements to the White Pains TransCenter.
    • Karen Pasquale discussed the Mt. Vernon/Yonkers Empowerment Zone and the Census 2000.

 

Next the Committee discussed the minutes of August 17, 1998. Leg. Latimer moved to approve, seconded by Leg. Mosiello. All in favor [4-0].

Next Leg. Latimer moved to receive and file agenda item 32, seconded by Leg. Maisano. All in favor [4-0].

Next Leg. Latimer moved to receive and file agenda item 35, seconded by Leg. Bronz. All in favor [4-0].

Leg. Bronz moved to adjourn, seconded by Leg. Maisano. The meeting ended at 3:00 P.M.
