The meeting commenced at 4:20 PM. (Note: the Committee has been informally discussing the legislative package since 3:30 PM).
The first item for discussion was the minutes of the January 14, 1997. Leg. Latimer moved to approve, second by Leg. Abinanti. All in favor [5-0].
Next, the Committee had a thorough discussion of the proposed items for the legislative package. Leg. Latimer moved with a second by Leg. Noto that the following items be included in the legislative package: 1. State Takeover of all Medicaid Costs; 2. Additional State Funding for Day Care; 3. Full State Funding for all Mandated Transportation and Education Costs for Children with Disabilities; 4. Modification of Wicks Law; 5. Permanent State Funding for WIHD; 6. Raise Bond Cap; 7. Extend Sales Tax Expiration Date; and 8. Establish Westchester as a separate EMS District . All in favor [5-0]. Leg. Abinanti made a motion to include the Handgun Accountability Act in the legislative package; however, it failed for a lack of a second. Leg. Latimer noted for the record that he does not support the bond cap change and he will be recorded in the negative when it is voted on the floor.
Leg. Mosiello moved to adjourn. The meeting ended at 5:00 PM.
