Minutes: Monday, August 5, 2002
Present
Committee: Legislators George Latimer (Chair), Lois Bronz (Chair of the Board), Richard Wishnie, Michael Kaplowitz, James Maisano and Louis Mosiello
Guests: Brishen Rogers (Local 32 BJ)
1. Meeting called to order by Chair George Latimer at 4:35 p.m.
2. Motion made by Legislator Wishnie to accept minutes of July 22, 2002. Seconded by Legislator Mosiello. All in favor – Aye.
3. Chair Latimer informed the Committee that the Central Labor Body of Westchester faxed to the Committee a letter endorsing their unanimous support of the Displaced Service Workers legislation. Their correspondence will be attached to Item #6.
It was discussed that hopefully by the next meeting – the Committee will have the legislation from law for further discussion.
4. Chair Latimer stated that Item #7 related to the Apprenticeship Program. Motion by Legislator Wishnie to receive and file, seconded by Legislator Mosiello. All in favor – Aye. (Received and File)
5. Chair Latimer stated that Item #8 related to the Apprenticeship Program. Motion by Legislator Wishnie to receive and file, seconded by Legislator Mosiello. All in favor – Aye. (Received and File)
6. Chair Latimer informed the Committee that he was in receipt of legislation from Law Department with regards to the Apprenticeship Program. Chair Latimer suggested that the committee review it and that at the next meeting it would be discussed in further detail. Chair Latimer entertained a motion to vote the legislation out for public hearing purposes only. It was questioned if the legislation should go into the Legislation Committee. It was decided that it would be discussed with the Chair of that Committee.
7. It was decided that at the next meeting – the committee would invite a speaker to discuss the request for the erection of a permanent memorial.
8. Motion by Legislator Wishnie to adjourn, seconded by Legislator Mosiello. Meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
