HOUSING COMMITTEE MEETING

April 19, 2001

 

 

PRESENT:  Legislator Lois Bronz and Michael Kaplowitz, Larry Dwyer, STAFF:  J. Cloidt, B. Dodds

 

Meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.   This was an off-site meeting held at the New York Power Authority, 123 Main Street, White Plains, New York.  It was an introduction of the new Community Housing Resource Center which is an organization being funded by the Housing Action Council, Westchester County and the United Way of Westchester.

 

This organization will have a 15 member Board with a full-time Director.  At this point they are still interviewing for the Director and staff positions.  The Board consists of Public Officials – Ann Janiak, Polly Kuhn, a Media person – Dee DelBello, a Bank person – Dennis McDermott, Educators – John Nolan and Saul Yanofsky, a Clergy person – Rev. Jeannette Phillips, Carole Weinstein of the Office for the Aging, Housing persons – Kim Jacobs, Stanley Schear, Lois Bronz will represent the County in this effort, Dave Meyers will represent the County Executive’s Office, Russell Ross and Ralph Gregory of United Way.  Attached is a list of these individuals with titles and their associations.

 

When presented to the audience – suggestions were made that maybe there should be a Handicapped Person and Latino on the Board.

 

The meeting was attended by 150 individuals who are interested in Affordable Housing in Westchester.
