The meeting commenced at 1:35 PM.
First the Committee discussed the minutes July 8, 1997. Leg. Bronz moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins. All in favor [3-0] (Leg. LaMotte out for vote).
Next the Committee discussed the minutes of June 17 and July 22. Leg. Swanson moved to approve both sets of minutes, seconded by Leg. Bronz. All in favor [3-0] (Leg. LaMotte out for vote).
Next the Committee discussed EMSA. The Committee reviewed the proposed resolution and amended its language. Leg. Swanson moved to sign-out the amended resolution, seconded by Leg. Bronz. All in favor [3-0] (Leg. LaMotte out for vote). Leg. Swanson moved to recess and reconvene on Thursday, July 31, 1997, at 1:30 PM, seconded by Leg. Bronz. All in favor [3-0] (Leg. LaMotte out for vote).

Next the Committee discussed agenda item number 1, a copy of a letter from the Supervisor of the Town of Greenburgh to the Commissioner of Parks urging the County to ban smoking on the lines at Playland. Leg. Stewart-Cousins stated that if such a ban was to take effect it must take effect on all "county lines" such as county bus lines and other county park lines. Leg. Bronz suggested that the Committee ask the Commissioner how practicable such a ban would be.
Next the Committee discussed agenda item 15, a communication directing the County Attorney to join Erie County in the prosecution of a lawsuit against the Tobacco Companies to recover damages on behalf of the people of the County of Westchester. Leg. Stewart-Cousins has communicated with County Attorney, Marilyn Slaatten, who is awaiting further information from the Attorney General. The Committee will continue to work on this matter.
Leg. Swanson motioned to adjourn, seconded by Leg. Bronz. The meeting ended at 2:00 PM.
