The meeting commenced at 2:20 PM

 

The first item discussed were the minutes of January 21 and January 28. Leg. La Motte moved to approve the minutes of January 21, seconded by Leg. Bronz. All in favor [3-0]. Next, Leg. Bronz moved to approve the minutes of January 28, seconded by Leg. La Motte. All in favor [3-0].

 

Next, the Committee discussed agenda item number 2, a citizen communication requesting assistance in obtaining a pool permit. Leg. Stewart-Cousins previously forwarded a request for this item and she will send a second notice.

 

Next, the Committee discussed agenda item # 7, the 1995 Audit of POMCO’s Health Benefit Claims Administration Program, and agenda item # 8 a letter from the Westchester Coalition regarding the relationship between the Westchester County Department of Health and County providers of pre-school services to children with disabilities. Both of these items are scheduled for discussion for Tuesday, February 8th, 1997.

 

Next, the Committee discussed agenda item # 9, a letter from a member of the New York Medical College staff regarding parking problems at WCMC. Leg. Stewart-Cousins has asked Mr. Boland for the name and address of the proper person to contact. The Committee is continuing to work on this issue.

 

Next, the Committee discussed agenda item # 10, Leg. Stewart-Cousins’s request that the Department of Health give serious consideration to relocating its officers to Yonkers, and

agenda item # 11, a resolution from the City of Yonkers requesting that the County consider relocating the Health Department’s Administrative offices to a location within the City of Yonkers. Leg. Stewart-Cousins stated that although a decision might have already been made she would like to know what was the Yonkers alternative is why was it discounted. Leg. Bronz suggested contacting Neil J. DeLuca.

Next the Committee discussed agenda item 12, a proposed act fixing and determining the charges for the care and maintenance of inpatients at the Westchester County Medical Center. The Committee agreed to address this issue at its February 25, 1997, meeting.

 

Next, the Committee discussed agenda item 13, a letter sent to her by a medical center resident regarding an extremely large increase in rent. Leg. Stewart-Cousins stated that A&C had approved this contract and the Committee needs to discuss the contract with Mr. Phelan of Budget and someone from Administration. The Committee agreed to schedule this meeting for March 4, 1997.

 

Next, the Committee discussed agenda item #14, an "Action Alert" from Child Health Plus. Leg. Bronz suggested a resolution of "options" in support. In addition, Leg. Bronz suggested that Aldo Vitagliano do initial research on this topic. The Committee will further address this issue.

 

Next, the Committee discussed the Rape Victims Assistance File. Leg. Stewart-Cousins stated that a $50,000 grant was awarded top "Congratulation". Leg. Bronz moved to receive and file, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins. All in favor [2-0] Leg. La Motte out for vote.

 

Finally, the Committee discussed the head-injury document located in the Miscellaneous Open Committee File. Leg. Stewart-Cousins stated that she spoke with the Commissioner who said this item as forwarded to the Head of the trauma department and they will answer the Committee’s questions promptly.

 

Leg. Bronz moved to adjourn, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins. The meeting ended at 2:50 PM.
