Caroline George commenced by talking about the Greenburgh Health Center. Ann Nolan discussed the Peekskill Health Center and how this center serves approximately 20,000 people. Peekskill has had 175,000 encounters in 1996. Opel Dunston discussed the Mount Vernon location which is a comprehensive diagnostic center. In 1987 a satellite center was opened in Yonkers with approximately 7,000 patients and it is growing rapidly. In 1988 a homeless project was also initiated. Of the 184,000 residents 84% were served. Marge Griesmer discussed the Ossining Health Center which started as a free clinic; 49% of the patients are from Ossining and the rest are from surrounding communities. Also a center in Port Chester has been established and this is growing very quickly. The strength in Ossining is the belief that 24 hour care is important and they have recruited doctors to work these long hours. Carol George discussed how the Greenburgh center is currently in transition. They are free standing and run by local community.
Statistical data such as the growth of the health centers and sources of income were discussed. Chart sand explanations which were presented at this meeting will be forwarded by the Health Center to the Board of Legislators.
