TASK FORCE ON FAMILIES

MINUTES, January 26, 1998

MEMBERS: Paul J. Noto (Co-Chair), Lois Bronz (Co-Chair) , Amy Paulin

The meeting commenced at 12:35 PM. The first issue for discussion was the minutes of January 12, 1998. Leg. Bronz moved to approve, seconded by Leg. Noto. All in favor [2-0] (Mrs. Paulin out for vote).

After the discussion of the minutes, the Task Force agreed to change its next meeting time from 12:00 noon to 11:00 AM.

 

Next the Task Force discussed Foster Care. Leg. Noto suggested inviting Ted Salem, the Associate Commissioner for Children’s Services to the February 4, 1998, meeting. Leg. Bronz stated she would like to invite Nan Dale, the Director of Children’s Village, to discuss the experience that the Children’s Village has had with adoptions. In addition, Mrs. Pauling stated that she would invite Cora Greenberg.

 

Next Leg. Bronz discussed sending a letter to the Adminsitration regarding Welfare Refrom. Leg. Bronz stated that she received a letter from the Hunger Coalition urging the Board of Legislators to establish a Task Force. Leg. Bronz stated that she would prefer to create an Ad Hoc Committee which would have specific assigments relating to the implementation of Welfare Reform. Leg. Bronz noted that she would draft the letter herself and confer with the members at the next meeting.

 

Leg. Bronz moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Paulin. All in favor [3-0]. The meeting ended at 12:55 PM
