COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT
Tuesday, October 17, 2000

DISCUSSION:
Chair Kaplowitz called the meeting to order at 3:20 p.m., and the minutes of September 19th were reviewed and accepted as amended on the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator LaMotte, with a vote of 3-0, (Legislator Maisano was out for the vote.)
Next, Chair focused on the latest agenda items, then reviewed all remaining items, and the following were received and filed: #s 4; 6; 10; 11; 18; 19; 37; 46; 47; 48; 51; 55; 56; 60; 64; 67; 71; 72; 74; 75; 76; 79; 80; 88; 95; 96; 97; 98; 100; 101; 102; 103; 104; 105; 106; 107; 108; 109; 111; 112; 114; 115; 116; 117; and 118. A detailed description of the items can be found on the October 17th Agenda. Chair Kaplowitz entertained a motion to accept the received and filed items as noted (ENV Committee file), and all members were in favor (4-0). Agenda item #s 88 and 110 were referred to the Committee on Public Works. Item #117 (Land Usage at WC Airport) was referred to Gina DAgrosa (Planning Dept.) for follow-up and Legislator LaMotte made a request, that she would like the Committee to receive a periodic, follow-up progress report. Regarding agenda item #118 (parking at the County Airport), Legislator LaMotte explained that there has been a continuing problem with short-term parking at the Airport, especially with the drop-off and pick-up of passengers at the terminal. The item was referred to the Administration (Bill Randolph) for follow-up.

Legislator Maisano gave a brief update on item #45 (Glenwood Lake Association), which is now in the possession of the Westchester Land Trust to be opted for open space.
Item #113 (Pesticide Notification Law) was next for discussion. The language in the Committee Report was reviewed and revised. Chair Kaplowitz entertained a motion to change the language and submit to the County Attorney for his revision. The motion was carried by Legislator Maisano, seconded by Chair Kaplowitz, with all in favor.
With no further business to discuss, on the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator LaMotte, the meeting adjourned at 4:23 p.m.
