COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT

DISCUSSION:

Chair Kaplowitz called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m., with a quorum.  Board Chairman George Latimer was asked to give a brief description of the Greenwich Woods agreement regarding the discharge of sanitary wastewater.  The proposed Act is to approve the change of the assignment agreement and grant permission to assign the permit from Greenwich Woods to Greenwich Woods Limited Partnership. Tami Altschiller clarified that the agreement is primarily a formal name change procedure.  Chair Kaplowtiz entertained a motion to approve, which was moved by Chairman Latimer, seconded by Legislator LaMotte, and carried 3-0.

 

The minutes of June 6th were reviewed next, and after a minor correction, was moved on the motion of Chair Kaplowitz, seconded by Legislator LaMotte, and carried 2-0.  The following agenda items were received and filed:  #’s 65, 66, 68 and 70.  The Committee calendar was also reviewed for upcoming meetings, noting that the next meeting will be Tuesday, July 11th, and will be a continuation of the Tappan Zee Bridge discussions.  The Committee on Community Affairs will participate in this meeting.

There will be no meeting on July 18th and 25th.  The Committee will meet again on Monday, July 31st at 1:00 p.m. (jointly) with the Committee on Legislation, to discuss the Pesticide Reduction Law.

 

Legislator LaMotte shared a newspaper article entitled “Helping Keep Reservoirs Clean (Farmers)”, and asked that a copy be distributed to all Legislators.

 

With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m., on the motion of Legislator LaMotte, and seconded by Chair Kaplowitz.
