DISCUSSION:

Chair Kaplowitz called the meeting to order at 2:40 p.m., and reviewed the minutes of February 8th, and 15th, noting that both minutes will be corrected and presented at the next Committee meeting.  He then referred to a fax received from Columbia Gas Transmission (dated 02/28/00), regarding their merger with NiSource, Incorporated.  A copy will be distributed to all Legislators.  Chair also noted that the resolution banning MTBE was passed unanimously by the Board at their meeting (02/28/00).  A petition, banning the use of MTBE in New York State, has been added to the resolution.  Chair asked Ms. LeLash and Ms. Weirnik if they would consider helping to circulate the petition through their organizations, and both gave a positive reply.  Rob noted that the Municipal Officials are presently being notified.

Next, the upcoming meetings were discussed and scheduled, and can be found on the bottom of the last page of the Environment Agenda.  The following items were received and filed on the motion of Legislator LaMotte, seconded by Legislator Pinto, with all in favor:  #5-Alum Addition Pilot Project; #12-Real Property Purchase – 143 Grand Street; and #13-Conveyance of County Property.
