MINUTES COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT Tuesday, March 23, 1999 3:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order at 3:35 p.m.. The minutes of March 16th, were approved on the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Kaplowitz, with a vote of 2-0. (Legislator Maisano was out for the vote.) Rob gave a brief update on the status of on-going agenda items. In regard to the GE Hangar issue, he is waiting for an opinion from the County Attorneys office. On the Millennium Pipeline, the Planning Dept. will provide updates as new information is received. Regarding the Stokes-Greene Property, quarterly updates will be provided. On April 20th, Goldstein and Marks of NRDC will be attending the Committee meeting to speak about the Kensico. A meeting will be scheduled with NYS/DOT to discuss Route 120 corridor. The Parks Deptartment has provided two (2) copies of the Parks Inventory, which is available upon request. Next, Commissioner Lannert gave an update on the Open Space Policy, noting that the County is in favor of preserving as much open MINUTES COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT TUESDAY, March 23, 1999 PAGE 2
space as possible. She also expressed that this issue has not been addressed since 1976 until recently, to see if the goals and policies that were set then, (in relation to PATTERNS) needed any changes or updates. The Committee then reviewed the Planning Departments draft policy and the Boards proposed resolution. After a brief discussion, it was decided that copies of the resolution, along with the draft policy, be forwarded to the officials of each municipality for their comments and/or input. The municipality officials should submit their response before Tuesday, April 13th, when the Committee will finalize this issue at their regularly scheduled meeting where it will be signed and presented to the Board for the April 26th meeting. With no further business to discuss, on the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Maisano, the meeting adjourned at 4:27 p.m.
