MINUTES COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT OCTOBER 14, 1997 2:30 P.M. PRESENT: Chair Carsky, Legs: LaMotte and Latimer ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Sandford, Mr. Yoegel, Ms. LeLash, Mrs. Keating. ITEMS DISCUSSED: Chair Carsky called the meeting to order at 2:45 P.M. The Committee reviewed the agenda items to be taken up for the rest of this term. Chair Carsky informed the committee that she has spoken with the 9th Floor and they promised her that the legislation giving the Department of Consumer Affairs enforcement powers will be sent down for the next agenda. Chair Carsky stated that she would like to fast track this legislation so that Point of Sale Notification can begin before years end. We will discuss it on October 21 at our regular committee meeting. It is her intention to sign it out for a public hearing on November 3 and perhaps adopt it the same day. On October 28, Chair Carsky has asked Commissioner Oliva in to give the Committee an update on Open Space and where we are with Lasdon, Gaisman, and Hudson Hills. Due to the Holiday, the Committee will meet on November 12, hopefully with the NYC DEP, and on November 20 with the Budget Committee with they meet with the Transportation Department on the Budget. On motion of Leg. Latimer, seconded by Leg. LaMotte, the minutes of October 7 were approved as amended. Leg. Latimer updated Leg. LaMotte on the composting meeting of last week. Leg. Latimer explained his draft Resolution regarding targeted money for projects to clean up the Long Island Sound. Page 2 Environment October 16, 1997
On motion of Leg. Latimer, seconded by Leg. LaMotte, the committee signed out the resolution 3-0. On motion of Leg. LaMotte, seconded by Leg. Latimer, the committee signed out the appointment of Richard McHale to the IPM Committee 3-0. On motion of Leg. Latimer, seconded by Leg. LaMotte, the meeting adjourned at 3:30 P.M. |
