Wiernik, Ms. LeLash, Mrs. Keating

ITEMS DISCUSSED:

Chair Carsky called the meeting to order at 3:10 P.M. Chair Carsky stated that we received a very nice editorial today in Gannett regarding Patterns - a copy of which is in everyone’s folder. Chair Carsky asked each legislator to highlight their own sub-region and possibly talk to their weekly papers for additional notification.

An article on Cranberry Lake that also appeared in today’s paper is in everyone’s folder as well.

The Committee went on to discuss the Pest Management Local Law and resumes. Leg. Delfino questioned the membership and asked if all Legislators had been polled for names. Chair Carsky stated that all members received her press release calling for names.

Chair Carsky stated that to date, we have only received four resumes, but were in the process of receiving two more before the end of today.

Leg. LaMotte stated that her recommendation from Bobby Nielson - who is the Superintendent of the Bedford Hills Golf and Tennis Club, would be here before the end of today. Mrs. Wiernik also stated the Michael Hanson’s resume from Consumers Union would also be here today.

The Committee reviewed the membership of the Committee. The legislation requires that either the Comm. of General Services, Public Works, or Parks, be an ex-officio member of the Committee as well as a liaison from the Board of Legislators.

On motion of Leg. Latimer, seconded by Leg. Delfino, it was agreed

4-0 that the Commissioner of Parks be a member.

On motion of Leg. Latimer, seconded by Leg. LaMotte, it was agreed 4-0 that the Chair of the Environment Committee be the liaison to the Committee.

Chair Carsky brought up her discussion with Mr. Klapps who is very qualified to serve on the Board but did state that his home was for sale and that he did not know how much longer he would be in the area.

On motion of Leg. Delfino, seconded by Leg. LaMotte, the Committee agreed 4-0 that they would accept the three resumes that they presently have and the two that were forthcoming and ask Mr. Klapps to sit in an advisory capacity.

The Committee continued to discuss the law. Leg. Delfino asked who sets the Policy and Leg. LaMotte pointed out that it was suggested in different sections of the law. Leg. Delfino asked Leg. Latimer for some history on the law since he was on the Environment Committee last year. Leg. Latimer stated that the County Attorney drafted said law and that none of the Commissioner’s mentioned came in to oppose it.

Due to the time and the next meeting that several legislators wanted to attend, Chair Carsky suggested that all Committee members review the law and the we resumes and will finalize this at our next meeting.

On motion of Leg. Delfino, seconded by Leg. LaMotte, the meeting adjourned 4-0.
