COMMITTEE ON COMMUNITY AFFAIRS

JUNE 16, 1997

ITEMS DISCUSSED:

 

Chair Bronz called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the HOPWA grant was signed out 3-0

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the Parks Department Annual report was received and filed 3-0.

 

Chair Bronz stated the she inquired of Ms. Hastings on the status of two parcels in the City of New Rochelle. Chair Bronz will await Ms. Hastings’ response.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the annual report of the Public Employment Relations Board was received and filed 3-0

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the Bike Paths communication was received and filed 3-0.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the referral from Ms. Ruddy regarding the RFP process was received and filed 3-0.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart Cousins the Yankees referral was received and filed 3-0.

Mr. DeLucia of the Parks Department came in to explain the licensing agreement with NYNEX regarding telephone service at Playland. He stated that rather than coming in every year, they would like to have an easement rather than an contract.

 

On motion of Leg. Stewart-Cousins, seconded by Leg. Spreckman, the NYNEX agreement with Playland was signed out 3-0.

 

Ms. Walquist explained the Invest-in-Kids Program to the Committee. Chair Bronz asked if the Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry filed for a grant and Ms. Walquist said yes but the proposal was not submitted properly. Leg. Stewart-Cousins asked when do we do this again and Ms. Walquist stated after the Budget comes out in the Winter.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the committee signed out Invest-In-Kids 3-0.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the item regarding Metro-North Third Rail was received and filed 3-0.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins the proposed Local Law for NYNEX Lines was signed out 3-0 for a public hearing on July 21.

 

Mr. Boland came in to explain to the Committee about the CDBG item that is on A&C for Thursday.

 

On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Leg. Stewart-Cousins, the minutes of June 9, 1997, were approved 3-0.

 

On motion of Leg. Stewart-Cousins, seconded by Leg. Spreckman, the meeting adjourned at 1:55 P.M.
