MINUTES COMMITTEE ON COMMUNITY AFFAIRS APRIL 14, 1997
PRESENT: Chair Bronz, Leg. Spreckman
ALSO PRESENT: Ms. Hernstadt, Mr. Swee, Mrs. Keating
ITEMS DISCUSSED:
Chair Bronz called the meeting to order at 1:10 P.M. On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Chair Bronz, the minutes of April 7 were approved 2-0.
Chair Bronz informed the Committee that she met with Mr. Raymond and the County Executive on a county-wide affordable housing policy. The County Executive agreed to have the Commission extended and to have Mr. Raymond chair same. The membership of the Commission needs to be discussed and implemented. The County Executive suggested exploring whether each Legislator would be interested in researching one parcel in each of their own districts to be used for affordable housing. Chair Bronz felt that it was a positive meeting. Leg. Spreckman asked if Senior Citizen housing was considered affordable housing and Chair Bronz said yes.
Chair Bronz also stated that she will invite Mr. Raymond to another meeting with the Committee to update us on where he is to date with the municipalities and projects.
The Committee reviewed the following agenda items:
A. Mr. Swee reported back that he is awaiting a response from Ms. Anguiollo on the Yorktown Country Residence.
B. and G. The Committee will circulate a letter to revisit the item on the Board agenda and to see if we have a sense of a sufficient change in position regarding Rory OMoore Park. Page 2 Community Affairs - April 14, 1997
C. Hon. Latimer - Airport Monitor - on motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Chair Bronz, the item was received and filed 2-0.
E. On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Chair Bronz, Leg. Abinantis response regarding Con Ed Electric Rates was received and filed 2-0.
F. On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Chair Bronz, Leg. Latimers letter from the Tri-State Transportation campaign was received and filed 2-0.
K. Hon. Albaneses proposal to bring the New York Yankees to Yonkers, Chair Bronz will write a letter to Mr. Steinbrenner.
Items M, T, U & V. - we will try to set up a meeting with the Environment Committee in the near future.
Item N. On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Chair Bronz, a letter from a Westchester County resident on a recent problem at the Airport was received and filed 2-0.
On motion of Leg. Spreckman, seconded by Chair Bronz, the meeting adjourned at 1:45 P.M.
