Tom Abinanti is serving his sixth term as a Westchester County
Legislator. He represents the 12th District, which includes Irvington,
Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, Ardsley and most of unincorporated Greenburgh
(including East Irvington, Central Greenburgh, Hartsdale and Edgemont).
During his first five terms, he twice served as the Majority Leader-
the first Democratic Majority Leader in the history of the Westchester
Legislature. He also served as Chair of various committees: Legislation,
Health, Community Affairs, and Rules. He currently Chairs the sub-committee
on Trash Haulers.
Previously, Tom served two terms as Greenburgh Town Councilman.
Tom Abinanti is a practicing attorney with an office in Greenburgh.
He was legislative counsel to a member of Congress and staff counsel
to the New York State Assembly Speaker. He served as a prosecuting
attorney for the Villages of Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry. He represented
the Greenburgh Housing Authority and served as pro bono attorney
for the Westchester Coalition for Legal Abortion.
In over 30 years of public service and community activity, Tom
Abinanti has gained a full understanding of how government works
and a broad knowledge of Greenburgh and Westchester.
Tom brings to the Westchester Legislature extensive experience
in the legislative process and the enforcement of local laws, as
well as a deep concern for the quality of life in our community.
