Come to our Environmental Forum April 21: BIG FOOT, CARBON AND YOU

The Larchmont-Mamaroneck League of Women Voters will hold its annual environmental forum on Tuesday, April 21st at 7 PM in the auditorium at Hommocks Middle School. This year's topic: BIG FOOT, CARBON AND YOU will look at reducing the so-called carbon footprint in our schools, on our main streets, in our daily lives and beyond.

We are fortunate to have some very interesting speakers this evening:

Mamaroneck High School Environmental Club Co-Presidents, Irene Dambriunas and Madeline Cook, will discuss steps being taken at the High School to reduce waste and students at Rye Neck High School will be invited to participate as well.

Cool Cities' Catherine Hiller will discuss the organization's worldwide mission to reduce the carbon footprint and the effort, now underway, to "Green" Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck Village. She will also speak about the international youth organization 350.org.

Eric Yaverbaum co-founder of Tappening (tappening.com) will address the many "costs" of bottled water and the financial, health and environmental benefits of using tap water.

Marshal Case, president emeritus of the American Chestnut Foundation (acf.org) will link together reforestation of America's strip-mined coal land, the benefits of shade grown coffee and providing habitat for neo-tropical migrant birds traveling between South America and North America.

This year's forum will demonstrate how every person can make a difference in reducing the carbon footprint in day-to-day living; and how an individual with a powerful idea can make significant positive change.

As always, the event promises to educate our guests about a timely topic and send them home with something special to enjoy that will help improve our environment.
