The Emelin Theatre
"A showcase for the performing arts that will entertain,
educate, and invigorate the entire community."
- Background: Founded with a gift from Arthur C. Emelin of
Mamaroneck to the Mamaroneck Free Library in 1971. Newly
complete theater opened in November 1972. George Kirstein
Wing completed February 1987.
- Recognition: Recognized as one of Westchester's most
prestigious performing arts centers, the Emelin has
hosted over 3800 performances of plays, chamber music,
cabaret, jazz, films, dance, bluegrass, speakers and
children's theater.
- Support: Supported by the Westchester Arts Council, the
New York State Council on the Arts, the National
Endowment for the Arts, the Town of Mamaroneck, the
Village of Larchmont and 2400 Friends of the Emelin.
- Publications: The annual brochure and an occasional
newsletter, "Emelin Events," are available by
